Sweet barefoot farmer boys, sinking those bare toes and soles into the warm, soft, and moist soil. Heavenly feeling! When I was a kid, me and a friend of mine did barefoot gardening. At first, he wanted to keep his shoes on. I convinced him to go barefoot so he wouldn't soil his shoes and socks. After he tried it, he couldn't get enough of frolicking barefoot in the freshly turned soil. After that, he couldn't wait to shed those hot, sweaty "foot coffins" when we arrived at the garden. Good times!
