Boys used to be less shy about baring their feet. It was a lifestyle. Now they pretty much keep their feet trapped in hot, sweaty, dark "foot coffins" that promote foot odor and foot deformities. Sometimes "progress" is actually regress.
When you go barefoot all summer, you can't stay shy—it just becomes part of everyday life.
