When we played baseball in the summer, the dirt areas would get so hot that it would burn the bottoms of your feet. It didn't matter. No one wanted to put on their shoes.
You can run the bases so much faster when barefoot because your feet are lighter without shoes and it's easier to run on your toes. Only bummer is when you slide into a base. OUCH!
